Feel Good Friday: Tattoo artist adds some Disney-villain edge to 8-year-olds leg brace
But it's not just their preference for villains that sets these twins apart. Both girls were born prematurely, resulting in not only plenty of time in the hospital as babies, but several medical conditions (cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and a leg brace) for Hope.
Living life with a leg brace can be a major bummer for anyone, but especially an 8-year-old. That's why Hope's parents recruited Fall River, MA tattoo artist Aaron Guillemette to customize Hope's braces with some of the best baddies. Hope uses it as an opportunity to rock her favorite Disney characters.
Guillemette was stoked about tattooing Hope's braces, too. His daughter is a classmate of Hope's, and he was excited to do the art because he wanted to make her feel good, rather than self-conscious. He even personalized each brace with her name.
Of course, Disney makes everything extra fun, as do Hope's wicked preferences. Guillemette told Today, "When I was first approached about designing Hope's braces, I thought it would be an awesome idea— especially when I heard what the subject matter would be. Hope wanted Disney villains on her braces, not princesses.”
Hope’s reaction when she was first shown her awesome new braces, featuring Ursula and Cruella? “I screamed," she shared.
Guilmette knows that his hard work paid off. “The look on her face when I gave them to her was worth everything it took to make them," he said.
Even celebrities are loving this adorbs story. Ashton Kutcher and Lil Wayne shared Hope's story on social media and commented on how "dope" her new braces are.
Why be like everyone else when you can stand out with such awesome accessories?
