Karlie Kloss is helping young girls code their way to a brighter future

When you think of supermodel Karlie Kloss, computer programming may not be the first thing that comes to mind. When she isn’t struttin’ her stuff on the runway, being the face of countless brands, or producing her own line of yummy cookies, though, Karlie is busy learning to code. Yep, coding—the complicated, intricate process of creating websites and other computer programs. Impressive, right?

While computer science and coding are traditionally male-dominated fields, Karlie's hobby is doing more than just defying gender stereotypes. She recently started a program called Kode with Karlie, which partners with Flatiron School in New York City to offer scholarships for girls across the country to learn to code at Flatiron's two-week summer program.
Karlie said that she sees coding not only as a form of creative self-expression, but as a must-have job skill.

"I think it's crucial that young women learn to code as early as possible to ensure that we, as women, have a voice and a stake in what the world looks like," she said in a video promoting the course.

Sound like something you'd totally love? Well, you could be one of the 20 girls chosen to participate in the program. All you gotta do is make a 60-second video explaining why you want to learn to code and you could win! Check out the amazing opportunity HERE.
What do you think of Karlie's mission? Will you make a video? Share in the comments below.
