In spirit of the holidays, we wanted to share this uber cute story about an unlikely friendship:

Meet Alia the baby and Daisy the… sloth baby?

Yep, you read that right! When Alia was just two days old, she met Daisy. Now, five months later, these two girls are the best of friends.

Daisy is just one of the several exotic pets that Alia’s parents, Julia and Jason Heckathorn, own, including Boomeroo the kangaroo, Noche the anteater and several sugar gliders, including Dexter. They also have a pet cat, Larry.

Julia is a children’s book author and illustrator, her book series Search for the Hidden Clover features their various pets as main characters, chronicling the animals’ and family’s adventures in a way that educates kids about environmental care. 

She also travels the US, talking at schools in order to educate students on the importance of looking after our natural world and letting them meet the pets.

As for Alia and Daisy, the two are inseparable.

"When Alia and Daisy sit next to each other, Daisy sniffs Alia while Alia nuzzles into Daisy's soft fur,” said Julia Heckathorn. “They are so sweet together. They even wear the same-colored flower headpieces in their hair.”
