What do you think: Will fining bullies' parents make a difference?
A Wisconsin town is taking the blame of bullying out of the hands of children, and placing it into the hands of their parents, the Huffington Post reports. This “parent-liability” approach is an attempt by the Monona City Council to reduce bullying among children and teens.
For the first notice of their child’s bullying, parents will be fined $114 within 90 days of the occurrence. Within a year of the first violation, the fine will increase to $177 for each repeated instance of their child’s bullying.
Some say parents of children that bully often believe their child is perfect and would never do anything wrong. Giving out these fines may make parents aware of how their children are acting in school environments.
What do you think? Will making parents take the responsibility of their kids’ bullying put an end to it? Or is it up to children themselves to stop the bullying?
