Three cheers for Google! Millions donated to classrooms in need
Google will be giving $5 million to DonorsChoose.org, which will grant individual awards to public schools across the U.S. that are currently underserved by the Advanced Placement curriculum in math and science. The money will help pay for teacher training so girls like you can study advanced topics, and will also be used for lab supplies, textbooks and other essential materials.
The other $1.8 million is going to Equal Opportunity Schools, which will use it to identify 6,000 low-income kids who could be placed in advanced classes, but for whatever reason, aren’t. The grant will give these students educational opportunities, like college prep-level courses, they would not normally have access to.
Here’s our Q for you: If you had $5 million to donate to charity, which charity would YOU choose? Tell us in the comments!
