Only 30 percent of girls in the world are enrolled in secondary schools. In the next two years, women will make up nearly two-thirds of the world’s illiterate adult population.

1 in 5 high school girls has been abused by a date and more than half of all rapes of women happen to girls younger than 18
Today, Oct. 11, has been established by the United Nations to support the a resolution made last year: “To help galvanize worldwide enthusiasm for goals to better girls’ lives providing an opportunity for them to show leadership and reach their full potential.”
