Girls are too cute to do their own homework
Uh-oh, JCPenney, you just hit a touchy subject. A new
long-sleeved T-shirt full of happy-go-lucky pictures of hearts, flowers and
other doodles reached the store's online shelves only to be taken down shortly
after. Why? Because of the words scrawled across it.
The "I'm too pretty to do homework, so my brother has to do it for me" slogan might just take cutesy tees to a whole new—and controversial—level. The shirt, marketed to girls ages 7 through 16, has been causing quite the uproar. Bloggers, parents and teens alike have commented on the sexist tone of the message. Is it saying that girls can get by on just being pretty and that they don't have any desire to learn for themselves, or is it just meant to be a sassy message for young girls to show off their personality?
Tell us, babes: Would you wear it? Or does it give the wrong impression about girls? Comment and tell us what you think!
