Girls kick Google science fair butt!
Hello girl power! We here at GL are proud to say that the
winners of the first annual Google Global Science Fair were our fellow females
Lauren Hodge, Naomi Shah and Shree Bose.
These girls came up with incredible projects that deal with real-life
issues such as chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, improving air quality for
asthmatics and reducing carcinogens in chicken.
As you can probably tell, this wasn’t just your average science fair. There were 10,000 students who entered, and the grand prize, won by Shree, was a $50,000 scholarship and a trip to the Galapagos Islands. The other winners each got $25,000 scholarships along with internships at Google and Lego, and the three girls all walked away with Lego trophies. How cool is that?!
These young ladies prove to the world that anything boys
can do, girls can do too (and better!). They believe no problem is too big, and
their drive to find solutions to these issues is what impressed the judges and
inspired us. Lauren, Naomi and
Shree thought outside the box and didn’t let their gender get in the way of
kicking some science fair butt!
