8th grader's anti-bullying video goes viral
When Alye Pollack, an 8th grader at a Connecticut
middle school, took her anti-bullying message to YouTube, she expected her
video to get 200 views at the most, the Huffington Post reports.
At the time this post was published, her video, “Words are worse than Sticks and Stones,” had been viewed 422,734. Alye uses posters to tell the story of how she is tormented by her peers on a daily basis. “I don’t cut but I’m close,” she writes. “Think before you say things. It might save lives. Don’t be a killer. Sticks and stones? Words DO hurt.”
Watch the video below…
Her words have struck a chord with many kids and adults. Stories of others who were bullied in middle and high school flood the comments sections of articles about the video and the blogosphere. The overwhelming sentiment? Something has to be done to stop the bullying, in schools and out.
What are you going to do, babes?
