EXCLUSIVE! Actress Kennedy Garcia is making her wildest dreams come true (and helping others while she's at it)
She acts. She models. She influences. She advocates. In other words, Kennedy Garcia pretty much does it all.
For starters, Kennedy was already making her mark on Hollywood—and the wider world—when she was just a teen. You might know her from her role on the mega-popular Days of Our Lives. Or maybe you've seen her modeling for American Girl, Justice and Claire's. Perhaps you've even heard of her amaze work with the disability advocacy org. Best Buddies. (In case it isn't clear yet, Kennedy is clearly an icon, the legend, the moment.)
Luckily for us, she was down to give us a behind-the-scenes peek into her life—both on and off the screen. Presenting five fast facts about Kennedy, right this way...
She got her start in the acting world before she even started high school.
"I have been modeling since very young and went on my first movie set when I was five," says Kennedy. "The first job I remember and loved was working with American Girl. I knew then that I wanted to work in the industry in some way. It was amazing."
Since then, Kennedy's made a name for herself as an artist. She's modeled for numerous brands, starred on shows like This is Us and Sesame Street and guest-starred in the award-winning short film Brownies (which we're def adding to our end-of-summer watch list).
She's living the dream on Days of Our Lives.
It's no surprise that Kennedy booked the role of Felicity Greene on Days of Our Lives. "I worked so hard on my audition and wanted this role so badly. When my mom told me I got it, I was in shock and so happy," says Kennedy. (Fun fact: One of her inspirations, Daytime Emmy-winner Courtney Hope from The Young and the Restless, coached Kennedy for her audition!)
Kennedy and her character even have a few things in common: "We both have boyfriends and love fashion and our family." But their differences might be one of the best parts of the job: "Felicity is a baker, and I definitely am not! It makes acting fun though!"
When the cameras are rolling (and even when they aren't), Kennedy has a great time with the cast and crew. "I just love hanging out with the other actors," she says. "My co-star Raven and I made a TikTok once, and we all just laughed and talked. Everyone is so nice!"
And when she's off-duty, Kennedy is just like the rest of us. Her ideal way to spend a day off work? "Hanging out in my pajamas watching a movie, or hanging with my friends and my boyfriend. I really just relax," she says. Relatable.
She's been nominated as a Best Buddies Champion of the Year.
One of the coolest things about Kennedy is her work with Best Buddies. "They foster friendships, provide job opportunities and help people with disabilities live independently in their communities," she says. "They make inclusion work and that's so important."
Because of all her impressive contributions to the organization, Kennedy's been able to take on a leadership role and make even more of an impact. "I'm proud to be their ambassador and now their Champion of the Year to help this organization move forward. We always need to give back to the causes that are important to us and help where we can."
She's setting some major goals—and making them happen.
The number one thing on Kennedy's fall 2024 bucket list? "Hitting our fundraising goal for Best Buddies!"
And in terms of her acting aspirations, Kennedy is looking to switch up genres one day. "I'd love to be in a scary film. Not bloody horror, but suspenseful and highly dramatic. I think I could do it well." A role in a medical drama could also be on the horizon: "A doctor show like Grey's Anatomy would be so fun!"
She's got some amaze advice for our GL gals.
Looking for your new motivational mantra now that the school year is starting. Look no further than Kennedy's words of wisdom: "Never give up and keep working hard. This world is big enough for all of us to shine. Your time is coming."
