Grace VanderWaal just booked her first acting gig—and it's *major*

You could say she's going to be a star.

It looks like winning America’s Got Talent, releasing an amazing album and going on tour with Imagine Dragons just doesn't cut it when you're as ambitious as Grace VanderWaal. The totally talented singer has decided to try out acting, and she's starting with a leading role in a Disney movie.

Grace will star in the adaptation of Jerry Spinelli’s critically-acclaimed book, Stargirl. The novel tells the story of Stargirl, an eccentric teen who comes to high school after being homeschooled for years. Grace’s quirky personality matches the character perfectly—she even plays the ukulele! Coincidence? We think not. Grace beat out 700 young actresses (700!!!), so it seems like this is the perfect role for her.

The film is set to start shooting later this fall and will be directed by Julia Hart, who knew Grace was the perf fit for the role right away. “The world knows what a talented performer she is," Julia said in a statement, "and I cannot wait for everyone to see just how many sides there are to this special and magical young woman."

While there is no official release date for the film, it will be one of the first to debut on Disney’s upcoming streaming service coming in 2019.
