New York Fashion Week trends we're obsessed with rn
It's the most wonderful time of the year: New York Fashion Week.
Running from Sept. 7 through 13, this year's showcase has already brought us some of the best fashion moments of 2023 (have you seen The Summer I Turned Pretty cast's gorg looks yet?).
Fashion icons like Ralph Lauren and Tory Burch have featured their upcoming Spring/Summer 2024 designs, and we've already spotted some of the hottest new trends you can expect to see at, like, *every* store in the next few months.
We've rounded up a few of our faves (so far!) from NYFW that you need to add to your wardrobe ASAP.
Sassy in sheer
Sheer clothing is classic. It's been around for decades (Madonna has been donning gorgeous gauzy dresses since the '80s), and it's *always* a serve. Coach and Collina Strada are just a couple of the many designers that featured this timeless trend in their collections, complete with unique layering techniques. We're particularly obsessed with Prabal Gurung's take on sheer pants. Flowy and fabulous.
Coquette is here to stay
Lana Del Rey fans rise—and stay standing, because the elegant coquette aesthetic you've been obsessed with on TikTok for the past year is *officially* NYFW material. Designers like Mirror Palais shined with a collection almost entirely dedicated to this graceful, ultra-feminine style. Ruffles, chokers, corsets and ribbons adorned everything, as they should. Total Gracie Abrams vibes too, tbh.
Metallic is the moment
Shimmering silvers and golds are no longer out of this world. From long-time fashion powerhouses like Ralph Lauren to first-time NYFW designers like Grace Ling, metallic garb was spotted in all corners of the NYC fashion sphere this weekend. Want to experiment with metallics at home? Make your lewk pop by sticking to one piece of metallic clothing, and keep the rest of your fit low-key.

A balanced and gentle color scheme
Compared with the spring/summer collections of years past, Women's Wear Daily writer Rosemary Feitelberg noted how the color palette of NYFW 2023 is noticeably more muted, but also more balanced. She notes the complimentary nature of colors like the burnt shade of Orangeade, the delicate Watercress green and the playful Lemon Drop yellow that have been spotted throughout the weekend's runway looks.
