NYFW is proving *just* how beautiful every girl is

Get ready, girls: Today, February 9th, marks the very first day of New York Fashion Week 2017 and we’re all excited to see what new styles are going to be out there this spring and summer. Nearly 100,000 people including bloggers and celebs will be attending, generating almost $800 million in revenue for the city that never sleeps. If only we could *all* attend such a prestigious event. Sigh.

Presenting brand new designers and your favorite classics, fashion week is an exciting time for companies to present their new designs to the global fashion community. From faux fur to floral prints and pantsuits, a variety of trends will hit the runway this season. But that’s not the only diverse part about the event…

This year, directors and designers worked really hard to make sure that there is a lot of diversity on the runway. And they don’t just mean different styles of clothesthey mean *models*. Last fashion week, about 25% of the models in the NYC, London, Paris and Milan shows were women of color, according to a study conducted by thefashionspot.com, a number that's only going to rise this year.

Last year’s NYFW was also the first to feature plus size models, women over 50 and transgender models, all hittin’ and slayin’ the runway. And this year, now more than ever, fashion show organizers are making sure that the shows starting today are filled with models of all color, shapes and sizes (yay!).

So here’s the moral of the scoop: Always remember that it’s *inner* beauty that matters the most. Every bod, every skin tone and every girl is gorg in her own way. Don’t let anybody ever tell you otherwise. Major props to the fashion world for embracing beautiful women from all different horizons. Now it’s time to get this fashion week started!
