How to get perfect loose waves like Bella Thorne
In our August/September issue, we showed Bella with those
gorge bedhead waves! Get this look on your own tresses in 5 easy-as-can-be
steps, just in time for BTS.
Step One:
This look works best on hair that’s a couple days dirty,
because it helps hold the curl better. For those gals who need hair to be
squeaky clean 24/7, try switching up your shampoo and conditioner to prep it
for curl! Girlies with straight, fine tresses should use a volumizing shampoo
to give the hair texture and volume. Chicks with already textured locks should
conquer frizz with a smoothing shampoo. Follow with a lightweight conditioner
that won’t weigh down your hair.

Step Two:
Hair is only beautiful when it’s healthy, so keep your hair
lookin’ good with a heat protectant before curling, which can minimize damage
by locking in moisture. This means say goodbye to dry frizz and say hello to
stunning shine!

Step Three:
This part might take some practice (but practice makes
perfect!): Get an alligator clip and clip off the top two-thirds of your hair.
Use a 1” curling iron to start curling the bottom third of your hair. Wrap
1-inch sections around the barrel in a corkscrew shape, hold for a few seconds,
and then release and repeat. Afterwards, bring down another layer of your hair
on top of the curls. Use the same method to curl the middle layer of your hair.
Finally, take off the alligator clip and curl the remaining top portion of the
hair.
*GL Tip #1: Work from back to front so you can see your work as it progresses.
*GL Tip #2: Curl away from your face so that your pretty
face isn’t hidden from view!
Step Four:
Don’t touch your tresses until your hair cools! Once cooled,
loosen the curls with your fingers and style hair into beautifully tousled
waves.
Step Five:
Finish off the look with your favorite hairspray. Not even
this summer’s humidity can loosen up your new look! Seek out one that packs in
SPF to protect your hair from the sun’s harmful UV rays.
