My friend is always saying things that make me feel dumb, and sometimes she even hits me.

She tells me I should hit her back or say something, but I don't want to.

Tell her you don't want to insult her or hit her back-you'd like her to stop insulting and hitting you. If she can't, find friendlier friends by getting involved in a whole new activity, whether it's chorus, track, karate, Students Against Drunk Driving, the literary magazine, or being part of a bake-sale fundraiser or church car wash.
