Diamond As A Girl's Worst Enemy

By Juliana D.

If someone loved you
like you loved your diamonds would you trust them?

These majestic jewels are just here to stare at, a trophy on your shelf,
the crystal on your hand. Not a person; do you understand?

Crazy as it seems the world lies to thee, with wretched stories of dread
Made to feel like they bury your mind in an overbearing earring

You're not meant to cry, just sparkle and smile, that's not our lives!
We are women! We are the tribe, a minute or more and you'll see our eyes
Watching you the same way we've been watched all our lives

So please look at me, no matter how much they lie
Diamonds are our worst enemy.
