"If I Were to Sail to Sea" - An original poem
“If I Were to Sail to Sea"
The consequences,
oh,
what the consequences would be,
if I were to go away,
and sail to sea,
and fall,
fall into an eternal sleep,
that couldn’t be broken,
even with true love’s kiss,
everything I want is,
and would be astonishing,
if only people knew,
but if the secret got out,
my desire for self-destruction,
is only what I want,
not what I need,
it’s hard to differ the two,
then,
what happens after one,
or the other,
thus is never forgotten,
and that’s all anyone wants,
when they wander into slumber,
is to be forgotten,
but as always,
life runs its course,
people live through the “pain”
of the tragedy,
people ask questions I would only laugh at,
because the only truth people know,
is the truth I let them believe about me,
what I only let them see from the outside,
but the consequences,
oh,
what the consequences would be,
if I were to go away,
and sail to sea.
