"The Voices" - An original poem
The Voices
I don't know who I am anymore
My mind is pacing but I don't know what for
These shadows haunting me every step I take
Constantly reminding me of the smile I fake
But every time I close my eyes, there they are
Those voices emerging from the dark
If I could hide, I would
I'd listen to music about how life could be
Wondering sometimes if it’s only me
It'd give me the courage I needed everyday
I'd let it sing my pain away
Yet every time I close my eyes, there they are
Those voices emerging from the dark
Their cold hands force my lips shut
For that invisible blade, made another cut
Yet, even if I cried
It’d be as if I never tried
Then I'd give them my pride
My head that was once held high
I'd take that moment to sigh
Every time that I close my eyes, there they are
The voices are emerging from the dark
