"Untold" - An original poem
Untold
What they never tell you
is that life doesn’t stop
long enough for you
to sit and see
They never remind you
to hold onto the rare moments
that taste like childhood
with a sweet hint of nostalgia
They never remind you
to slowly inhale the raw smell
of your mother’s garden,
or notice the tickle of the grass
on your bare legs
They never remind you
to memorize the number of freckles
on your best friends nose,
or the way she sings every verb
They never remind you to
trace the walls
of your childhood bedroom,
or document your days through diaries
They never remind you
to hug every person you meet, or
ask the questions that scare you
(They) never tell you
because they are fooled
into thinking these things (lose value)
