"Gilded" - An original poem
Gilded
Gilded guy covered in gold,
You look so handsome, so why are you cold?
If looks could kill, I would die.
You’re so attractive it makes me shy.
You seem so open and easy to approach,
Until I discovered, your soul was a roach.
You shrug me off, I’m a waste of your time.
But if you’re so fake, then why do you shine?
The truth lies beneath your wealth,
For being cruel you have poisoned yourself.
The covering is fake, like the one beneath,
Maybe it’s for your heart, a much-needed sheath.
Gilded guy covered in gold,
I’m glad I’m not you. I’m glad I’m not cold.
But I am now fine. I am not harmed.
I now see through your deceptive charm.
A lesson well learned, but I wish I was told:
“Don’t fall for a loser, gilded in gold.”
