Cartoon Character Costume Party
Pull Out All the Stops
Encourage your guests to show up in full cartoon character spirit. I’m talking voices, catchphrases and recognizable habits. Snag Astro’s sound bytes or Fred Flintstone’s bellowing “Wilma! I’m home!” Nail Shaggy’s slouching walk or Wonder Woman’s hands-on-hips stance.
Party Food
Whip up a batch of your fave characters’ go-to nibbles. For your main course, serve up Spongebob’s super crabby patties. Unless your guests are crab lovers, stick to hamburgers made from ground turkey for a leaner entrée. Pair with Sonic the Hedgehog’s chili dogs. Grab some low-fat hot dogs from the supermarket and prepare some chili to top ‘em off.
For dessert, make some Scooby snacks. Bake sugar cookies in the shape of bones and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar to create snickerdoodles.
Seeing Double
Did two people come dressed in the same duds? Have a character-off to figure out who the best impersonator is. Let your guests choose the winner by the volume of their applause for each person’s performance. Will the real Minnie Mouse please stand up?
Sing-A-Long
Download your fave shows’ theme songs and have a blast beltin’ out the lyrics you can remember and mumblin’ the rest. Don’t forget to shake ‘n’ shimmy along to the beat.
Watch Your Faves
Make a Facebook group for your party and ask your guests to
submit their favorite cartoon episodes of all time. Screen the ones with the
most votes during the party. Many oldies are now on DVD. Ask your buds if
they’ve got ‘em handy or check out the library to see what’s in stock. When in
doubt, check You Tube.
