How to be the queen of hearts
Rule #1 Don’t give in to gossip
There’s a difference between swapping newsworthy tidbits and spreading rumors/trash talking people you don’t particularly care for. Avoid the latter, OK? It’s not an attractive quality, and once your victims hear that you’ve been including them in your gab seshes, they’ll be hurt in a way that’s difficult to heal. Besides, you don’t want others gossiping about you, right? Yeah, we thought not.
Rule #2 Be friends with everyone
You don’t have to be besties with the hundreds of kids that go to your school, but it’s so easy to learn people’s names and smile at them in the hallway. Why not give it a try? Partner up with different people for class projects, switch up your study buddies and always have a kind word for everyone.
Rule #3 Remember the little things
You know, like how that quiet girl in your geometry class competes her dogs in agility classes on the weekends, and how the totally hip swim team star is a total Star Wars nerd, too. Asking the chica how her pups are doing, or challenging the jock to beat your Angry Birds Star Wars top score is a nice way to show that you really, truly do care.
Rule #4 Be real
You know those girls who fake their way to the top? You know, with plastic-y smiles and insincere compliments? Don’t be that girl. Folks can smells fakers a mile away…and you’d know in your heart that you’re really not the nice gal everyone hopes you are. Shoot for honesty and you’ll find yourself surrounded with tons of true-blue friends who would go the extra mile for you…just like you’d do for them.
