Should you wear glasses *or* contacts?

If you’re a girl who just went to the eye doctor and discovered that you don’t have vision as perfect as you thought or if you've been wearing glasses for a while and would like to try out contacts for the first time, you’ve come to the right place. I personally wear both, and for different reasons. Read on for my best tips and how to decide what's best for y-o-u.

Go for glasses...
+ Cheaper: Depending on the brand you choose, glasses tend to be less expensive than contacts, especially if you are looking at the daily disposables which are even pricier.

+ Totally safe: Glasses don’t have any dangerous side effects whereas with contact lenses, you have to be very careful. In chemistry lab at my school, for example, the teacher recommends wearing glasses because people have had contact lenses melt in their eye due to heat or dangerous chemicals (rare but it happens!). Also, you shouldn't go swimming with contact lenses on because bacteria in the water can get in your contacts and cause serious probs.

+ Easy to wear: You don’t have to deal with solution or eye drops...you just pop them on every day. Contact lenses take more time and require you to clean them every day (if you are wearing soft contacts, which most people do).

+ So trendy: Oversized, round, hipster and slim glasses are all “in” right now. Plus, sometimes glasses really do just make you look smarter or more put together.

Choose contacts...
+ Sports friendly: Contact lenses are a lot easier on the field because you don’t have to worry about glasses falling off, getting knocked off or breaking, especially if you are playing a sport like basketball, lacrosse or softball.

+ Full coverage: Contact lenses do not obstruct or distort your sight at all like glasses may (hello, peripheral vision!) because contacts are physically on your eyeballs.

+ Everyday wear: Some people don’t like the way glasses look, so contact lenses may be more appealing. Glasses could also clash with your outfit, depending on the color. And if you don’t have transition glasses or prescription sunglasses, then you may have to wear clip-ons which are slightly inconvenient.

+ Comfortable: Glasses can be a little uncomfortable at times because they fog up in hot or cold weather and can break or be lost easily. Contacts don't do that. And there are even contact lenses that you can wear while you sleep, so you don’t have to wear glasses or contacts the next day. *So* convenient.

The verdict...
Overall, neither is better than the other; they just provide different benefits. It's a personal preference as to what works best for your life. You can also get both so you can wear contacts for sports, exercise and special events and wear glasses for school and daily activities. That's what I do...and I love it.
