Should I stick with my real bra size or go with a comfier fit?

I'm a 12 year old that's supposed to wear a 32C bra but I think I should wear a 34B. I think it'll be more comfortable. Would it still work? Or should I stick with my real size?

Finding a bra you like is sort of like finding the perfect pair of jeans: a pain in the bum and totally exhausting, but always worth it in the end ‘cause it makes you look fabulous.

First things first…
Have you been measured by a pro? My best bra-measuring experience was a Nordstrom. Their fitters really know what they’re doing and they know how different brands run. If you’re having trouble getting comfy in one particular brand’s bras—say Victoria’s Secret—I recommend trying on a variety of other brands, not just styles. Some run small, some run big, and some are just plain comfier than others.

What’s the difference?
You can always go into a store and try on a bra that is sized differently than what the measuring tape says you really are. There’s certainly no harm in that. And truth be told? Wearing the “wrong” size bra will not hurt you. But it also might not support your growing breasts as well as the “right” size bra would.

When it comes to bra sizing, you have to know what the numbers and letters mean.
The numbers—32 or 34 in your case—refer to the band size, which is the measurement taken around your ribcage, underneath your boobs. The letter—A or B, for example—is the cup size. A 32A might hug your ribcage better and “stay up,” if ya know what I mean, than a 34B, which will give you some more room but not necessarily a better fit for your chest size.

Not all bras are sized exactly the same way
Sure, it would be great if a 32C in one brand’s demi cup fit the same as another. But just like that super sweet skirt you bought last month, not all sizes are created equal. Different company’s undergarments can run smaller or larger than the size you really need.

The solution?
Try on bunches until you find one that fits and looks fab on you. Spend some time in the bra. Bounce around in the dressing room, put on different shirts, stretch. It really is just like a pair of jeans, and trust me, you don’t want your bra pinching or sliding after ten minutes of wear. Owwie!
