How to motivate yourself to workout in the cold weather

This time of year, it becomes really hard to convince ourselves to complete the workouts we did every day over the summer. It’s not 80 degrees anymore and you can’t just jump in the pool to do a few laps before lounging around in the sun. Alas, it’s October, it’s cold and it’s so much easier to just lay on your couch covered in blankets and not move.

Especially when you already went to school and, you know, accomplished things...

..and when there are unarguable points like this.

So how can you ever be motivated to do any sort of exercise at all? (Below: Actual footage of editor and resident fitness guru Amanda attempting to get the GL team to workout in the cold).

As difficult as it is to believe, there are, in fact, ways to get yourself off your couch and back outside.

1. Think about all the things you can binge-watch after you sweat it out outdoors.

Right now, you’re probably watching a playlist of old Zoella vlogs feeling guilty that you’re not going on a run. But newsflash! All of Zoella's vids (and Alfies and Joe's and Mark's...) will still be there to marathon watch when you get back inside.

2. How will you feel on your trip to visit your aunt in Florida in December when you realize that you took one too many rest days?

If you're the type of person that feels good when they do good things for their bodies, remind yourself of that, then get up and get out for a run, walk, jog—anything!

3. Imagine all the awesome Snapchat opportunities.

You know that Fitness blogger you look up to who's always Snapchatting her workout routines? You could be that person (in the least annoying way as possible, obvs)!

4. You can come home and eat literally whatever you want.

You'll have a *huge* Halloween bag full of candy soon. Put it to good use by noshing on a piece or two after your outdoor workout. Kit Kats, Sweetarts, Lifesavers—can you say yum?

5. You’ll be avoiding homework in a way your parents can't be upset by.

When your mom asks you why you're not doing work, you can immediately reply, "I'm about to go for a bike ride!"

6. You'll look and feel even more flawless than you are.

Odds are, no one's ever gone to the gym to do a cardio workout and regretted it afterward. You hop on that bike for thirty minutes or hit the track for an hour and you'll return home feeling a thousand times better than before. Trust!
