5 easy energy boosters

Stay juiced with our simple tips for feeling refreshed—without reaching for a Red Bull!
Sip Some H2O
Dehydration can make you feel sleepy, and gulping water gives your body a wakeup call. Plus, experts found that going into a workout fully hydrated means you’ll perform more reps while lifting weights. Sip it all day, and when exercising. It’s a much better choice than any sugary drink.
Do a Headstand
Flipping your world upside down can give you a total rush—literally. When your blood flows to your head, it stimulates your brain. Clear a space in your room or near a wall and carefully kick into a headstand. Or, hang upside down from your bed. Don’t forget to inhale and exhale while you’re hangin’ out. Stay there for 10 to 30 seconds.
Eat Smaller Meals
Chowing a major feast can drain your bod. Instead, nosh smaller portions at mealtimes (still getting in veggies, lean meats and whole grains) and nutritious snacks (like bell pepper slices and hummus, edamame or a small salad). You’ll keep your blood-sugar level and your energy on the up and up.

Be a Daredevil

You don’t have to sign up for skydiving lessons, but trying something new releases dopamine in your brain—and banishes boredom. Check out a food you’ve never tried or walk the dog on a new route. Hey, change is a good thing.

Think Happy Thoughts
Forget about finals, boys, stress, friend drama for a sec and fill your brain with positive emotions. Remember a LOL-worthy moment from summer vacay, make a list of things you’re grateful for or cozy up with a funny book. Getting a cheery new outlook will leave you energized—and feeling great about life.
