Sick of sweatin' solo? 5 workout classes to try
Spinning
Don't be fooled: Just because you're sitting down doesn't mean you're not getting a killer workout! Spinning works your legs super hard, transforming them into lean and toned works of art. Your thighs, hamstrings and calves will take shape and build muscle as you dive into these classes. When using correct posture, even your abs can get a workout and start to sculpt from spinning! If you're worried about not being able to keep up with a class, spinning is perfect for you. You can choose to use different levels of intensity and keep your own pace until you become comfortable while still blending in and participating in every class. If you're injured, it is also a great class to look into as spinning puts little strain on your knees and feet as other forms or exercise might. The final key to spinning is making sure you find a class with a great instructor to push and motivate you through the strenuous cycles.
Boxing
Boxing is a fun, powerful workout with both physical and mental benefits. If you're feeling high stress, nothing is better then going into a boxing class and swinging out your frustrations into boxing bags- no hitting people! Boxing requires strong form and intricate moves, working your brain out to keep your shapes precise. Physically, you will be working your biceps, triceps, forearms and core the most, creating muscular arms and toned abs. Your overall agility will also increase as you're constantly moving around your arms and feet in this fast paced exercise, using lots of focus and hand-eye coordination. Boxing is great for your strength, sanity and stamina!
Zumba
The Zumba craze has been constantly building for years. Zumba is a high-calorie burning class targeting all parts of your body through a mix of high energy dance and traditional workout moves such as squats and lunges. Your body will feel tighter and more toned after several Zumba classes working you out all over. Zumba may be a lot of work, but it is also super fun! The dances are cool and totally enjoyable. Classes are offered in many different levels and combinations are easy to catch on to, so being a bad dancer shouldn't stop you at all. Zumba is a creative way to dance your way into shape!
Yoga
The most low key of all these exercises is yoga, an overall mind and body class that will show great benefits to your mental and physical well-being. Yoga has been shown to reduce stress as its main goal is to channel serenity and establish peace with yourself. Breathing techniques in yoga is also set to help teach your body control and quiet your mind. This being said, yoga does have great physical benefits. Poses are developed to increase strength overall and in your core as well as expand your flexibility and posture. If you're looking for an overall mind-body workout, yoga is the route for you.
Pilates
Slightly similar to yoga, Pilates also calls for mental awareness and relaxation, but focuses a lot on building your strength and core, and developing your thigh, ab, lower back and oblique muscles as well as flexibility, muscle endurance and coordination. Pilates requires you to strengthen and stretch practically your entire body through series of exercises both on and off the floor. Pilates is still a gentler exercise on an injured or fragile body, as it is low impact and often does not have you bearing much of your weight. Increases in coordination, muscle tone and flexibility are all great results gained from Pilates.
