Resident Crafter Girl Marly of craftergirl.com has a cute and cheap way to ramp up your workout wardrobe! Put an old t-shirt to good use--and make an adorable head wrap to match. This so-cute outfit combo will be perfect to sport at the gym or cheer practice (Psst: show some back-to-school spirit and use your school’s colors!). Read on for the cinchy how-to.

What you’ll need:

An old t-shirt

Fabric square (can be purchased at Jo-Ann Fabrics for under $2)

Scissors

Pen

Super glue or fabric glue

Racerback tank: What you’ll do:
Step 1: Lay out your t-shirt on a table and use a pen to outline your cut area (or cut it free-hand). Cut the sleeves off and the neckline in semi-circle shapes.

Step 2: Lay out the t-shirt so that the back is facing up. Draw a “V” outline to cut. Make sure to only cut through one layer of material! Set aside.

Step 3: Get out your fabric square, and cut a 1-inch piece of fabric the entire length of the fabric square.

Step 4: Gather together the “V” section of the t-shirt you cut and knot one end of the fabric you cut around the bottom of the “V” of the t-shirt. Circle the rest of the fabric up the “V” to finish the racerback. Then, knot the fabric again to secure it. Lastly, tuck in the access fabric.

Hair wrap: What you’ll do:

Step 1: Cut two 2-inch fabric strips the length of the fabric square.

Step 2: Fold in the frayed ends, run glue along one of the sides, then fold it over again to hide the frays.

Step 3: Cut a hole in one side of each of the pieces of fabric.

Step 4: Criss-cross the fabric as shown, below. Then, pull the sides of the fabric without the holes through the holes. You’ll be able to adjust the length of both sides to fit your head perfectly.

Step 5: Wrap it around your head knot it at the bottom. Trim the ends, and you’re ready to hit the gym!
