Brighten Up with Pretty May Flowers!

It’s spring and that means flowers are absolutely everywhere. Our sunny faves will add a splash to every area of your life, whether you’re whipping up cupcakes for your BFF or making a last-minute Mom’s Day gift!

Sweetest Treat
If you’re making a special treat for your friend’s birthday or your team’s last game, make some cupcakes and adorn them with bitty buds on each cake. This is not only delicious, but creates such a nice presentation everyone will gush over how great they look.

How to: After you bake and ice your cupcakes, you can add little flowers to each one. Nab edible flowers from the grocery store (look in the produce department) or talk to a local florist. Never just pick buds and pop them on your cake—you never know what kinds of pesticides they’ve been treated with.

Fresh-Picked
Put fresh cut flowers on your mom’s bedside table, or give daisies to a friend who’s feelin’ blah, and you’ll see how blooms make people smile. Great spring fresh flowers are tulips, hydrangeas and peonies, but pick what makes you the happiest.

How to: When cutting fresh flowers from the garden always cut them at a slant with sharp garden shears, and put them in lukewarm water as soon as possible. Tying some fresh flowers with a ribbon makes a cute bouquet to give as a gift.

Faux Beauty
Not into fresh flowers? No problem, fake flowers look great without the maintenance and short life of fresh flowers. Go to any craft store to pick up fake flowers, which can be made out of latex, silk, or preserved dried flowers. Fake flowers are great for projects or pinning in your hair as well!

How to: When arranging fake flowers use a colored vase, or fill the vase with glass or natural stones. Placing bigger flowers in the middle first, and surrounding them with smaller flowers works well. Feel free to cut the stems or leaves to give the arrangement the look you want. Or, throw them in a bright vase to add cheer to your room.
