How to deal with being single this holiday season

Everything is more special during the holidays: there are pretty lights, yummy treats and *lots* of family time, but it may seem a little lonely if you don’t have that special someone to share it with. Don’t worry though! We are here to tell you that being single during this time of year is *totally* ok, and there are actually tons of fun things you can do to treat yourself this season! If you find yourself wishing you had someone to take you out on a date, try one of these 5 fun things you can do as a single gal during the holidays:

Go gift shopping by yourself

Have holiday gift shopping to get done? Head to the mall and spend some quality time with yourself while picking out the perfect presents for your siblings, friends, and parents. Don’t forget to spoil yourself with a gift or two, because you deserve it!

Invite a couple of besties on a friendship date

Not being in a relationship means that you usually have more free time to spend with your friends, so you can embrace it and deepen your bonds with them. Plan a day with a bestie or two with some kind of fun (and COVID-friendly, ofc) activity: go sledding and order lunch, have a Christmas movie night, start a makeshift winter photoshoot or anything else that sounds fun! You can check out more ideas on fun socially distanced winter activities here.

Treat yourself to an at-home spa day

An at-home spa day is the *perfect* way to wind down and treat yourself to some much-deserved relaxation. Light some candles, take a bath or shower, play some calming music and just let yourself be at peace. You can even make an at-home face mask by following one of these recipes here.

Netflix binge

Looking for a chill way to remind yourself of the beauty of free time whilst single? Pick out your current *fave* Netflix binge and get excited for a binge marathon. Nothing beats a binge with no other distractions or responsibilities. Bundle up with a blanket, your go-to movie snack, a nice hot cocoa and press play!

Journal

Take a more reflective approach towards being single and write down how you are feeling. If you're looking for a more guided path, try responding to some of these prompts: things I love about myself, things I am passionate about, things I want to accomplish and things I love about my friends and family. It is *so* important to take time to reflect and be grateful for who you are and remind yourself that you don't need a special someone to shine, you can do that all on your own!
