A look at Meg Cabot’s two latest books!
Meg Cabot is a wonder. And here’s why: She managed to end the Princess Diaries series with Forever Princess, a book that even the most passionate Princess Diaries fan (that would be me) could love. And not only that, there’s an accompanying book, Ransom My Heart (written by Mia, but really by Meg), to go along with it.
I read Forever Princess first. Mia’s senior year, Michael’s back, Mia and Lilly are still having awkwardness. Finished it lickety-split, wishing for more Mia, Michael, Lilly, Grandmere, the whole bunch. But alas, the time has come to move on from the series, and I feel good about it. Peppered throughout the book were passages from Mia’s Ransom My Heart. And, I admit, I thought the book seemed lame.
One lazy Saturday afternoon, and I was looking around for a book to read, and there it was. And I thought, “I love Meg’s books. Why wouldn’t I like this one?” Though it took me a few pages to get into the historical romance lingo (words like “Fie” aren’t usually my thing), I quickly became enamored with Finnula and Hugo.
Here is what you should know about it: It’s long. It’s SCANDALOUSLY AWESOME (sex scenes and everything—very steamy, and not for younger readers). And it’s a fabulous guilty pleasure. Guiltier than Gossip Girl, and that’s a good thing.
One more good thing? Like Mia in Forever Princess, Meg Cabot is donating the proceeds from Ransom My Heart to Greenpeace. Nice, right?

Do you have any Meg Cabot faves? (I confess, I love the guy from the Where-R-U series the very best!) Any other books you think I have to read and review on the site? Let me know!
Oh, and PS: I know there are lots of Allie Finkle fans out there, and I just got word that the third Allie book, Best Friends and Drama Queens, is out March 10.
