Get swept away by romance and revolution in Tell the Wind and Fire
What it is: Based loosely on Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, Tell the Wind and Fire presents Light and Dark, two sides of a fantastical New York City that could not be more different. The Light, where protagonist Lucie Mannette lives, is full of the sort of luxury and riches the poor, starved people in the Dark could only dream of. But Lucie has a secret: She was born in the Dark, and everything from her fame to her handsome boyfriend Ethan feels like an illusion that could be shattered at any moment.
But when a mysterious stranger comes into Lucie’s life, sporting Ethan’s face and a very Dark connection with her boyfriend, she is faced with a choice that could change everything…including the delicate balance that holds together her perfect world.
What I loved: Rees Brennan did a fab job at creating a magical world, and while reading it I really felt my imagination running wild. I would especially recommend the book to anyone who loves a great fantasy story. Plus, it was so emotional—the romance really touched my heart.
Why you should check it out: Tell the Wind and Fire has everything—love, war, humor…it's a total page-turner. Rees Brennan's writing really allowed the characters to come alive. And not to give anything away, but the twisty plot has left me thinking about the story ever since I finished it.
