Check out this eye-opening read with Before My Eyes

If you're the kind of reader that likes to mix things up halfway through a book, check out Caroline Bock's Before My Eyes. With three different main characters each with their own perspectives, inner lives and story narrations, it's impossible to put this book down. And with frank themes about mental health, help and violence, this book isn't for the faint of heart.

Claire, Max and Barkley all have their own set of issues to deal with, but they've also all got each other's problems, too. Stuck together as strangers thanks to a beach-side food stand, the three's lives intersect in interesting ways. Seventeen year old Claire is having a rough time playing mom to her little sis while their real mother is sick in the hospital. She finds solace in Max, a state senator's son working at the Snack Shack who's facing his own struggle with prescription pills. Barkley at 21 should be the oldest and wisest, but with his own unresolved mental health issues – and a voice in his head growing increasingly louder – he's find it more difficult to cope every day.

When the three of them come together, summer adventures are bound to happen, but also trouble. Everything seems like it could fall apart any minute, but when Barkley's voices start turning violent, the real danger begins.

Will Claire and Max be able to help Barkley tackle his inner demons while dealing with their own lives? Will Barkley manage to find help for his paranoid-schizophrenia before he's past the point of no return? Pick up a copy of Caroline Bock's Before My Eyes, available now, to find out.
