What a Trauma Queen!

Imagine starting a new middle school. Already a nightmare, right? Add a totally weird mother and the need for acceptance in and you have met Marigold.

She is an average 13-year-old girl, except for one little thing: Her mom is a totally crazy artist and dog-walker! (Think: Lady Gaga as a mother). Totally exciting and cool sometimes, she’s also super embarrassing. Marigold’s mom is always performing—even at Marigold’s new school!

And then there is Marigold’s super relatable little sister, Kennedy. Kennedy loves to read and is ALWAYS asking Marigold questions! Sound familiar?

Besides the mom thing, Marigold is dealing with saying good-bye to her best friend, Emma, all while trying to fit in amongst the cliques of her new school.

Add all of this together and you just bought yourself a totally funny, refreshingly realistic look on a crazy middle school life. Trauma Queen by Barbara Dee is an easy read, filled with humor and relatable scenarios. Be sure to pick up a copy to discover how Marigold’s crazy story unfolds.
