Gossip Girl for a Day
Hello my favorite Upper East Siders! Ever wanted to know where Blair, Serena, Chuck, Dan, Nate and the rest of the Gossip Girl crew hang out? Well, now you can.
On Location Tours is the one and only source for the happenings of New York’s upper elite. And their new Gossip Girl Sites Tour lets you swap your Pumas with a pair of Louboutins (well, not literally) for three and a half hours of New York City fun.
A diehard Chuck fan at heart, I got the chance to check out the tour, taking my equally gossipy little sis. The tour is authentic in nature, with a Blair look-alike guide providing juicy deets on our fave GG stars. Hopping on and off a luxury bus, we got to check out some of the most memorable filming spots on the show.
The New York Palace Hotel
Old home to Chuck Bass, as well as the Van der Woodson clan. The Palace’s restaurant has been featured in scenes, like the one of Serena enjoying a grilled cheese sandwich with truffles. Did you know the real-life restaurant, Gilt, has its own “Gossip Grill” grilled cheese? Delicious!
The Constance Billard School for Girls & the St. Jude School for Boys
Oh, if only I could’ve caught class with Dan Humphrey. Both are located on the Upper East Side but, on the show, they’re located at a fictional address in the middle of the East River! Exteriors for the school are shot at the Museum of the City of New York and The Synod of Bishops Russian Church.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art Steps
Lucky for my sis, Maggie, and I, Jenny Humphrey wasn’t there to scare us away. A fave lunching spot for Jenny and her crew, the steps actually serve as a hangout for many ladies from the Marymount School and other elite Upper East Side schools for girls.
The Archibald Residence
Love ya, Nate. And while he no longer lives here, this was the spot for scandal in the first season. A residence in real life.
Dylan’s Candy Bar
The spot where Nellie Yuki stole Dan’s cell phone—remember? Okay, I admit, I did take advantage of the 15 minutes we got in the shop and bought some sweet treats for myself. I couldn’t resist!
If you find yourself in the New York area, I suggest dressing up as your fave Gossip girlie (I wish I did!) and hopping on the tour. Tours happen every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting at noon. While one ticket throws you back $40, the fun outweighs the cost. It’s also recommended to be accompanied by an adult if you’re under 13.
