Must List

Disney just announced a bunch of new movies and shows—and we're already obsessed

The D23 Expo (AKA Disney's yearly event where they announce *all* their upcoming movies and TV shows) is officially over, but that means our fangirl era is about to begin. Disney is going to take over your screen these next few years with a ton of new Star Wars and Marvel content—and there might be a visit from our fave demigod, too. So keep reading, because we're ready to dish on all things D23.

The Little Mermaid

If you haven't seen The Little Mermaid teaser trailer, you've def been living under a rock (or maybe under the sea?). On Sept. 9, Disney released the official teaser trailer for the long-awaited live-action version of the classic story. Halle Bailey of R&B sister duo Chloe x Halle stars as the redheaded princess, and this one-minute clip already has us convinced she's *perfect* for the role. The vid gave us a sneak peek at Ariel's amazing underwater world, and we can barely wait until May 2023 to see the rest of it.

Inside Out 2

You heard that right—an Inside Out sequel is happening! Not a lot was shared about the film during the expo, but we know that it's in the early stages of production. Amy Poehler, the voice of Joy, will be reprising her role. We're getting a feeling that Inside Out 2 is about to become one of our core memories.

The Multiverse Saga

Marvel's Phase 5 is coming, and it's going to be the best one yet. Producer Kevin Feige took the stage at D23 to share The Multiverse Saga with the world and announce so many new projects it left our heads spinning. Daredevil is getting a brand new series, Loki is coming back with a second season, Captian America 4 is coming in 2024 and a Fantastic Four film is currently in the works (we are already swooning over John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic). And to top it all off, Marvel dropped the teaser trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. So mark your calendars for Nov. 11, because we will be front row—with extra popcorn, ofc.

Snow White

Not just one, but *two* of our fave princesses popped off at D23. Disney announced that a live-action Snow White movie is currently in production, with Rachel Zegler as Snow White (yes, we're screaming), and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. Could there be a more perfect cast? And the cheery (apple?) on top—the screenplay was co-written by Greta Gerwig (the genius behind Little Women and Ladybird), so you know it's going to be iconic.

Star Wars

In a galaxy far, far away, Lucasfilm has been busy expanding the Star Wars universe. A live-action Ahsoka series is coming in 2023, as well a film called The Skeleton Crew (starring our celeb crush, Jude Law), and a second season of The Bad Bunch. Disney also released a first look at the Mandalorian's third season, and don't worry, Grogu is as cute as ever.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Calling all demigods! Percy Jackson is back and better than ever in this new Disney+ series. Author Rick Riordan took the stage to show the world their first look at the series, which gave the audience a peek at Camp Half-Blood and Cabin 3 (it's giving all the "god of the seas" energy we could ask for). The official release date of the show is unknown, but we're crossing our fingers that it comes out this year.
