10 fictional couples who were *also* in love IRL
Have you ever wondered how your fave on-screen OTPs always have the *most* believable chemistry? As it turns out, a lot of the most iconic fictional couples have had IRL love affairs. Dying to learn more about these awe-inspiring romances? Keep reading for the 4-1-1 on 10 of the most fabulous off-screen romances.
Lea Michele & Cory Monteith (Glee)
Calling all gleeks! This on-screen power couple had more than just musical chemistry. That's right, Glee's Finn and Rachel were the it-couple at McKinley High School *and* on the red carpet. Although Lea and Cory started off as best friends and co-stars, they eventually took their relationship to the next level after playing on-screen boyfriend and girlfriend. Unfortunately, Cory tragically passed away in 2013, and he is missed by the Glee community every day.
Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling (The Notebook)
When filming a movie like The Notebook, how could you *not* fall in love with your co-star? Similarly to their on-screen characters, McAdams and Gosling were rumored to have *quite* a romantic relationship, despite constantly bickering with one another.
Although they weren't crazy about each other on the set of The Notebook, the two had a classic enemies-to-lovers redemption arc and fell for each other two years after they wrapped up filming. As perfect (and crazy) as their love story was, their relationship ended after just under two years of dating.
Blake Lively and Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl)
This just in: Dan and Serena dated IRL. When Blake Lively and Penn Badgley met on the set of Gossip Girl in 2007, dating rumors began circulating immediately. Gossip Girl producers were *all* for this romance because they wanted the show's drama to be as realistic as possible. Viewers went crazy for (what seemed like) the ultimate teen romance, but unlike their characters, the two A-list celebs didn't wind up together. In fact, Lively wound up with a different co-star...
Blake Lively (again) and Ryan Reynolds (The Green Lantern)
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds met on the set of Green Lantern in 2010, but both Ryan and Blake were off the market at the time. Once Blake called it quits with her GG co-star and Ryan divorced his then-wife Scarlett Johanson, the two *finally* got together in 2011. Regarded as one of the most unproblematic couples in Hollywood, they currently live in upstate New York with their three children, James, Betty and Inez.
Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt (Mr. and Mrs. Smith)
If you've kept up with celebrity gossip over the past 10 years, you know about the ever-so-complicated romance between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The two fell in love on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith...while Pitt was still dating Friends star Jennifer Anniston. After Brad ended his relationship with Jennifer, #Brangelina made their red carpet debut in 2006. After having and adopting multiple kids, the couple had solidified their role as THE power couple of Hollywood. Brad and Angelina broke America's hearts when they announced their divorce, but we know we will *never* forget their iconic love story.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song)
When Miley Cyrus began dating Aussie heartthrob Liam Hemsworth on the set of The Last Song in 2008, Hannah Montana fans could *not* have been happier. After getting engaged at 19, Miley dated Liam until 2014, when they called off their engagement. In 2016, however, they got back together and secretly got married a few years after. Unfortunately, this power duo got divorced pretty soon after tying the knot, but it seems like they're both thriving solo right now.
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis (That 70's Show)
Not only did these two meet on-set when they were kids, but Mila's on-screen kiss with Ashton Kutcher was actually her *first* kiss. While they didn't start dating until years after the show ended, they're now happily married with two kids. Team Jackie and Kelso forever!
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (Twilight)
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson began dating while playing love interests in Twilight in 2008, and fans went *crazy* for their love story. Although these two love birds (er, vampires?) have since split up, they are reportedly on good terms, with Kristen even congratulating Robert on landing the leading role in the new Batman movie.
Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things)
Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton started dating just before the second season of Stranger Things began filming. In December of 2017, the pair became red carpet official, but have continued to document their love story through photographs attending fashion shows, taking extravagant vacays and appearing at awards ceremonies. This couple is *still* going strong and we can't wait to see what the future has in store for them.
Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens (HSM)
Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we? Teens everywhere were glued to their desktop computers after learning that Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron has made their relationship official in 2005. Like most teen romances, theirs fizzled out within a few years, but HSM fans will never forget this iconic love story. #Zanessa, as fans called them, still takes the cake for being the *ultimate* Disney Channel power couple.
