Holiday light drive-thru shows are the *ultimate* safe new tradition
'Tis the season of fun holiday traditions! Although some activities may be limited due to COVID-19, light drive-thrus are our new favorite activity to do with the entire fam this season. This outing is great if you want to watch twinkling light displays from the warmth of your car, blast Christmas music and snack on some candy canes.
During the drive-thru, you can chat with your family and not worry about catching COVID-19. Here are some of our very favorite examples that will get you super excited to go to your local light show.
Located in Arizona and Georgia, the World of Illumination is the world's *biggest* and most magical drive-thru show. Its new candy cane winter wonderland display will make you feel like you're riding through a candy kingdom. Since there is a limited number of cars allowed, you'll feel like you're the only one driving along this mystical pathway.
The Coastal Maine Botanical Garden has been transformed into a wintery wonderland drive-thru. The light display called "Garden Aglow" is located in a charming Maine town called Boothbay. Maybe your local botanical garden or park has also been made into a holiday extravaganza center, too.
When going to the drive thru, make sure to snap some pictures from the comfort of your own car and post it on your social media. You saw flowers at the gardens during past summers—now see splendid light shows this winter season!
Herr's (yes, the snack company!) once offered tours of its headquarters in Nottingham, Pennsylvania pre-COVID-19. Now, it has transformed its headquarters into a *free* light show drive-thru that is sure to bring holiday cheer into visitors' lives. Decorated with glittering reindeer and trees of every color, the light show brings *all* the winter wonderland vibes and stays open from "dusk to dawn."
If you live in northern California, then Christmas in the Park in San José will surely win your heart. It offers "a musical show that will play through your car's radio" while you're driving through the pathways. Talk about high tech *and* cozy at the same time! The History Park has landmarks, reproductions of houses and historically significant buildings.
Located In Spring, Texas, the Light Park has its very own radio station with "banter and a mix of holiday music" to play while driving through the pathway. With lit-up sleigh displays, elves, huge snowflakes and *the* DJ Snowflake playing music, this drive-thru has everything you need for a fab time. There are even signs along the pathway that have fun trivia questions you can answer with your whole fam (check the answers to the questions on its website!)
With over a million holiday lights, Christmas in Color is an *amaze* drive-thru located in Colorado, Utah, California, Idaho and Minnesota. Aside from being ultra-impressive, its glimmering light displays are completely synchronized to holiday music. By purchasing a ticket, you will also help others because Christmas in Color donates some of its proceeds to the Make-A-Wish Foundation!
So, get your light drive-thru ticket and make this holiday season merry and bright! Don't worry if you're not nearby these light shows—research light shows close to you. Let us know how it goes on Twitter @girlslifemag.
