Benefit Cosmetics just named a model with down syndrome one of their ambassadors

Benefit Cosmetics recently launched a new ad campaign for their Roller Liner Eyeliner—and it is seriously historic. Why? This campaign features Kate Grant, a 20-year-old Irish supermodel who has down syndrome.

With this campaign, Benefit has become one of the many cosmetics brands making strides toward inclusivity. Benefit said in a statement to Today Style that they "instantly fell in love" with the model's infectious energy and confidence after her inspiring video about breaking into the modeling industry came to their attention. The company stated that Kate "embodies everything we stand for as a brand."

Kate first made headlines last summer when she was crowned "Teen Ultimate Beauty of the World" in an international beauty pageant and became the first woman with down syndrome to win the title. Despite initial fears of negative feedback, Kate has kept her head held high.

"Her aspiration to walk the catwalk was so strong, I had to support her in what she really had a passion for," Kate's mom said during a morning show appearance last year. "She brings something very special to the catwalk. She has a personality where she engages with the crowd and oozes confidence."

Kate has emphasized that she wants to use her new platform for "the inclusion of young adults and young children with special needs" in the modeling industry. And while her partnership with Benefit is a huge milestone, she's not stopping there. She also hopes to appear at London and Paris fashion weeks and land her first magazine cover. Yas, Kate!

We think this girl looks amaze in her first campaign as a Bene Babe and cannot wait to see what amazing things she will continue to accomplish as a model and an advocate for inclusivity.
