Feel-Good Friday: Sibling rivalry is no match for these twins
The 13-year-old girls competed against each other in the 800-meter race at the Southern Illinois track meet. More than half way through, Chloe felt a sharp pain in her hip and took a tumble.
Claire didn’t leave her twin sister in her dust. Instead, she picked up Chloe and carried her on her back across the finish line. That’s right, she ran 370 meters with double her weight.
This, by the way, was right after she finished a 5:23 mile, earning the title of Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association Mile State Champion in her age group. Yup, you can bet the crowd went wild.
The cheers kept Claire pushing through to the finish line. They placed last, but that doesn’t matter to Chloe. When asked why she sacrificed winning to help her sister, she said it was “love and compassion.”
