After trending on TikTok, "Backyard Boy" amassed almost 40 million Spotify streams by October of 2020. But who's the voice behind this fun, lighthearted bop? Claire just kicked off her headlining tour in February, but music has been a part of her life long before that. Throughout Claire's California childhood, her dad wrote songs for TV shows and jingles for commercials, and she would sometimes help him with those melodies and lyrics. Soon enough, he'd do the same for her, as the duo wrote, recorded and produced Claire's debut EP, BeVerly Hills BoYfRiEnd, together at their home studio. "Working with my dad is really nice because we can be super transparent and he is always able to capture the vision I have for my songs," she shared in an interview.
Claire draws from a variety of influences for her music, which she describes as "alternative-blues-pop." She names Frank Ocean, Jack Johnson and The Beatles as some faves, but there's no denying that a Claire Rosinkranz song has its own unique sound—and super-relatable lyrics. Songwriting is Claire's favorite part of the entire creative process—she says that she writes just about every day. And while she loves a change in perspective, she often writes about her own experiences and emotions, too, calling her songs "a personal diary." From friendships to crushes to family to *all* the feels in general, Claire captures these topics in an introspective, authentic way that resonates with so many listeners.
So, what's next for Claire? 2021 was a huge year for her, with the release of her EP "6 Of A Billion," and her song, "don't miss me," which even featured on the soundtrack of BookTok-hit-turned-rom-com The Hating Game. It looks like this year is already shaping up to be even bigger! Claire just recently dropped her latest single, "i h8 that i still feel bad for u." She's also performing across North America on her tour all spring. And ofc, luckily for us, she's *always* working on new music, even teasing some snippets on her social media accounts. We can't wait to see what else is in store for this pop princess! In the meantime, check out her new song rn:
