First Look: The Let It Shine cast
The stars were snapped during the Disney ABC Television Group Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour this week. And, can we just say, we’re loving 13-year-old Coco Jones’ pink fringed top!
Coco (yea, you might remember her as a finalist in Radio Disney’s N.B.T. is taking on the role of Roxie Andrews, a fast-rising music star, in this modern day story inspired by the ghostwritten love letters of Cyrano de Bergerac.
Set in the world of rap, hip-hop and gospel music, the film follows shy guy Cyrus DeBarge (played by Tyler James Williams) and his best bud Kris McDuffy (played by Trevor Jackson) as they reunite with childhood friend Roxie. When Roxie’s music label announces a songwriting contest at a local Atlanta club, Cyrus decides it’s time to come clean about his feelings for the singing sensation—and does it through a contest-winning rhyme. The prob? He writes it under the name “Truth,” which mistakenly <eek!> gets attributed to Kris.
Will Cyrus finally find the confidence to overcome his self-doubt and reveal the actual truth? Well, we’ll have to wait until the movie’s premiere this June.
’Til then, be sure to check back for loads more exclusive Let It Shine treats. Yep, we got a chance to hang with the cast on the flick’s super-cool set. And, trust us, you’re not gonna want to miss this!
Are you pumped to see Let It Shine when it premieres on the Disney Channel this June? Blog about it, babes.
