Exclusive! Tour secrets from Miranda Cosgrove


Slap those dancing shoes on! Miranda Cosgrove is back on the road for her Dancing Crazy Summer Tour—and we just can’t get enough. If you were lucky enough to catch the iCarly star when she passed through town this past winter, you’re well aware that this chica puts on a fabulous show. But there’s even more surprises in store this go-around.


Miranda’s not only teaming up with our pal Greyson Chance once again (who kills it on stage with songs off his new album, Hold On ’Til The Night), she’s also whipping out new songs off her EP, High Maintenance, cool new colorful costumes and tons of confetti, among many other treats.


We got a chance to catch Miranda at a recent stop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and even in the 120 degree heat, that girl was able to bring us to our feet from her very first song “Leave It All to Me”. We couldn’t stop grooving well into the night, but were first able to take a breather with the beauty backstage (in some nice AC) and had her spill some big secrets from life on the road this time around.


Expect bigger—and better—on this leg of the Dancing Crazy tour. “There's a lot of stuff that's different. I'm doing a lot of new songs from my new EP. And I'm still bringing people on stage, but I'm bringing more people up for even more songs.”


She hearts “Kiss You Up”. “It's an acoustic song that starts off with me and my guitar player Andy. I like that feel of just singing acoustically and having the audience sing along. It's an intimate moment.”


Her guitar player likes to keep her on her toes. “In my song ‘High Maintenance’ there's a line that talks about a guy breaking a guitar because he thought he was Van Halen. My guitar player who is singing that part, actually changes that name every single show, so it's like a surprise. Sometimes he'll say my name or one of the band members' names. It's just funny being in front of so many people and have him say this random person's name. He keeps it fresh.”


She considers touring her summer camp. “We have sleepovers on the bus every night and get to know everyone really well.”


But she knows keeping in touch with buds, is the key to a lasting friendship. “I have two best friends that I’ve [known] forever and I call them on the bus every day. There’s that whole side of tour where it’s fun to just let it take you away, but it’s important to also stay [connected].”
