Look Like a VMA Vixen!

Last night’s VMAs left us with something to talk about—absolutely amazing dresses, cool-girl accessories and the only shoes you’ll need all season. The red carpet was aflutter with fierce femmes in shiny silver, jet black and vamp red. Did you think the girls were gorge—or left something to be desired?

We picked some of the looks we loved and how you can rock ‘em in the real world. We can’t guarantee a Moon Man, but we know you’ll look glam!

A Red Dress…like Taylor
Let’s be honest: Last night was all about Ms. Swift. And her fab crimson frock proved you don’t mess with a girl in a red dress, right? Look for one with a flattering halter and great ruching at the waist. Bonus: It works from homecoming through the holidays.

A Silver Sparkler…like Leighton Meester
For Leighton Meester, all the world’s a stage: to prove that in real life, she’s nothing like her preptastic counterpart Blair Waldorf. She donned a short-sleeve, metallic mini dress and looked like a total star. This dress should only be worn after dark—and pull one some black tights to make it more low-key.

Suede Booties…like Whitney Port
Black suede booties are fall’s go-to shoe. Whitney wore them with a teeny black dress, but they’d work with jeans or a sweet skirt, too. A floral hairpiece makes them romantic, while studded earrings bring out their tough side. OK, seriously, we never want to take them off.

 A Leopard-Print Belt…like Olivia Palermo
Clearly, we have a thing for The City. Last night, Olivia ditched the drama and showed off her updated version of a classic. A black dress (pick a t-shirt one to make it more casual), a leopard belt and a red clutch was all it took for her to steal the spotlight. P.S. Leopard is everywhere right now, so give this catty style a try.

A Leotard…like Beyonce
We’d never tell ya to shake it in just a bodysuit (unless you’re a dancer!), but B is definitely on to something. A leotard is a seriously stylin’ layer, especially under fall’s frilly skirts and cardigans. Ballerina (and Beyonce!) inspired, without being too literal.

And two beauty looks we’re obsessed with!

Red lips and a red pout.

Taylor was sizzlin’ with a scarlet kisser and nails to match. She kept her face neutral and made her eyes stand out with black liner, mascara and a tiny bit of silver shadow. Gorgeous for a night in NYC (or an ultra-glam event in your hometown).

Sula Nail Polish in Crimson Red, $10, amazon.com
Starry Eyes and a natural lip
Leighton went a little overboard with the shadow last night, but girl had a good idea. Shimmery navy liner and gunmetal shadow are two of my fall faves. Line your eyes all the way around and then smudge on some silver shadow. Add mascara. Done and done, diva.
