Here's how to bring this fall's New York Fashion Week vibes into your everyday fits
We're almost through this fall's New York Fashion Week. And if you're anything like us, you've been watching the trends and taking notes.
But let's be real: While some (read: most) looks are fantastic on the runway, they might look kinda silly IRL. Multi-layered princess gowns, huge feathery jackets...these fits are just a *little* impractical for everyday teenage life.
So in the spirit of taking inspo from NYFW, here are some of this year's trends with easy ways to incorporate tiny touches of them into your own style. Before you know it, you'll be hitting the streets with runway-worthy looks using clothes you already have.
The trend: Bright greens and yellows
The everyday version:
This year's NYFW is full of neon hues like yellow and green. If you have a bright neon shirt or bag in your wardrobe, pair it with jeans or other, more neutral colors to bring a pop of color into your regular school outfit. You can also rock a lime green dress (like this one from Amazon, $27) for a more dramatic, full-outfit look.

The trend: Lacy ballerina princess clothes
The everyday version:
NYFW is taking on the coquette aesthetic—and we heart this soft girl corset-inspired hairstyle for any day of the week. How to DIY it? Celeb hairstylist Lacy Redway gave us all the deets.
Prep your strands with a mouse (like TRESemmé Extra Hold Mousse, $8), then part your hair in two sections, going all the way around the crown of your head. Split the top section down the middle into two smaller sections. Dutch braid (peep a tutorial here) each section toward the nape of your neck, then bring the braids together and secure with an elastic. Add some gel (Redway used TRESemmé Extra Hold Gel, $7) to tame flyaways if you have 'em, then loop your hair into a bun before adding a hefty spritz of TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray, $5.
FInally, string a ribbon through the top of the braids and loop it like a corset, wrapping around the bun and letting the ends hang loose. So chic!

The trend: Fabulous feathers
The everyday version:
All over, we've been seeing colorful faux feathers adorning everything from jackets to dresses. While a full-on feathery outfit can be a tad over-the-top for a trip to the grocery store, you can add a few feathery touches, like these black flair jeans (Forever 21, $28.44), or even try tying a faux-feather boa onto a bag or backpack strap.

The trend: Cool cutouts
The everyday version:
This season, there have been some dramatic floor-length dresses with cutouts. To recreate the fit, look for pieces that pay homage to the distressed trend with little incisions that still make them totally wearable IRL (like this Forever 21 top, $18.16).
Ribbed Knit Cutout Top, Forever 21, $18
