Love these looks: American Music Awards 2018
Music has a lot of big nights, and the American Music Awards is one of 'em. The musical celebration, where contemporary artists from nearly every genre come together to celebrate the year's most triumphant musical moments, was held last night, Oct. 9 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Stars like host Tracee Ellis Ross, Shawn Mendes and Normani were all in attendance for the honoring of *so* many fan-voted musical achievements.
They were looking flawless, ofc, so here are some of our favorite looks from last night's show.
1. G-Eazy and Halsey (above)
This duo was practically the "it" couple of the entire night with this look on the red carpet. Halsey's edgy yet girly tulle dress perfectly complimented G's suave velvet jacket and smooth black shirt, and both wore minimal accessories to top it off. We're highkey obsessed—could they get any cuter?
2. Cardi B
This look is just a little over-the-top, but there are two things here that are important to recognize:
1. Would we expect ~anything~ else from our girl Cardi?
2. I will *always* be obsessed with floral prints of any kind.
Cardi goes big or she goes home, and she won big with her awards for Favorite Artist and Favorite Song - Rap/Hip-Hop, as well as Favorite Song - Soul/R&B for "Finesse." She deserved a bold look to match!
3. Shawn Mendes
One word: Swoon!
Mendes took on a more simplistic look; his black blazer with slim fit slacks, loosely-fitted patterned shirt and maroon boots stole the show. The Favorite Artist - Adult Contemporary winner may have kept his look casual, but his performance of "Lost in Japan" with Zedd transcended all words.
4. Amandla Stenberg
Riding on the success of her new film The Hate U Give (based on the best-selling novel by Angie Thomas), Stenberg strutted her way down the red carpet with this casual chic look. I'm obsessed with her bowtie, and those shoes are literally to *die* for. If she can pull off boot-cut jeans at an awards show, is there really anything she can't do?
5. Carrie Underwood
Do I even need to explain why this look is flawless? Underwood was glowing with this simple black and gold style, and that pair of bold earrings pulled the whole thing together. After her accident that resulted in 40 stitches across her face, it's clear that nothing can stop her.
After walking away with Favorite Female Artist - Country last night, we can't wait to see what she (and her style) are up to next.
6. Khalid
Last but certainly not least, our knight in retro armor. Khalid took to some classic vibes with this look: high-waisted one-button pants, peacoat and white turtleneck. Not everyone can wear this unironically, but the Favorite Male Artist - Soul/R&B proves that his style is just as smooth as his latest single, "Better."
