The Met Gala is notorious for cutting-edge fashion, and stunning celebrity looks and this year did not disappoint! The event, which has been held every year since 1948, was created to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.

Each year, the gala has a theme. Last year's was "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between" and 2016's was "Fashion in an Age of Technology"). This year, the gala took on "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." 

The red carpet was dominated by some of our fave celebs who dawned everything from iconic works of art to halos to epic beading to jewel-encrusted crowns. It was, to put it lightly, epic.
