Keeping up with Kenzie: the dancer tells all on her Justice clothing line

A version of this article appeared in the December/January 2018 issue of Girls' Life.

Like most girls, Mackenzie Ziegler, 13, loves the holidays—sipping hot cocoa around the re, playing silly games like “Pin the Nose on Rudolph” with her cousins and bumping Mariah Carey’s rendition of “Sleigh Ride” at full blast.

But unlike most girls, Mackenzie will be commem- orating the most wonderful time of the year with her very own clothing line.

The Dance Moms star (and little sis of actress/ dancer/model Maddie) is releasing a collection of holiday-themed athleisure at Justice. Think: mint-green pieces like a cutout-back sweatshirt and comfy leggings—all bedecked with silvery accents that make them as perfect for decorating Christmas cookies with your girls as they are for heading to the dance studio.

“I always loved shopping at Justice, and I always wanted to create my own clothing line, so I thought ‘Where better to do it?’” Mackenzie shares. “This is actually my second line—I did a back-to-school one, too—and I love it so much.”

She says that when she holds meet-and- greets with fans while on tour with musician and YouTube fave Johnny Orlando, girls often will show up decked head-to-toe in her pieces.

“It’s so cool. I never thought I’d make a line girls would love and actually wear,” she says.

For each collection, Mackenzie releases a music video featuring her singing and dancing and rocking her signature pieces. This time around, it’s all about that holiday spirit.

“The storyline brings to life the magical feeling of the season,” she says. “It doesn’t matter where you are; the true spirit of the holidays is always in your heart.”

And she should know—every year Mackenzie and her famous fam go out and buy “carts and carts and carts” of toys for hospital-bound kids to enjoy during the holidays.

“It’s really great giving back, and we have tons of fun doing it,” she says. “It’s so special watching kids light up when we give them presents.”

Sounds like Mackenzie will definitely make the Nice List this year.

"My favorite piece is the sweatshirt with the open back—it’s so cute and comfy! I love pairing it with the ‘Dance’ training tank so that the criss- cross cut-outs show on the back.”

"I love the color story and metallic prints of the holiday line. This tee is really cool—it says ‘Free To Be Me’ on the bottom.”
