5 fashion trends we wish were a joke
We heart fashion, but there are some styles that should slip back into oblivion. From PJs that double as outerwear to kiddie clothes gone wrong, here are the clothes we think should stay buried in the depths of the closet.
Shooties (aka, shoe + booties) are fine by us, but start throwing in other layers and the kicks start to get more “eek!” than “amazing!” May we present to you the peep-toe moc sandal? For the days when you wish your slippers could be worn outdoors...but that they had a little more breathing room...and some extra adornments.
Not to reveal my age, but when I was a kid we wore bike shorts in the summer—constantly. They were super comfy and cheap and were perfect for running around like mad. Turns out, Jessica Simpson remembers that trend, too, and is trying desperately to glam it up with cropped tuxedo jeggings. Forget black: Faded gray is the way to go?
Call me nutso, but I believe girls over the age of 4 can in fact wear overalls. They should not, however, rock second-skin shortalls under any circumstance. Overalls are supposed to be laid-back and practical (for working in fields and on trains and such). Coveralls that double as club gear are not gonna be in our shopping bag anytime soon.
Yep, dole out $40 and you can look like you’re wearing pajamas painted as jeans wherever you go. We’ll take yoga pants, leggings or even a maxi dress (they’re soo comfy!) over these unfashionable fails any day.
Celebs won’t stop wearing these oversized bras and we’re hoping this innerwear-as-outwear vibe doesn’t hit the rest of the nation. Even if you’re buff, a belly is best kept under wraps if you’re anywhere but the pool.
