These old makeup trends are due for an upgrade

Change can be hard sometimes, but it's *def* necessary, especially when it comes to what's inside your makeup bag. A product or brand that was the *best* a few years ago maybe isn't the product you should be using daily now, years later.

It's hard to keep up with what's good and what's not—especially because of how fast-paced the beauty world is always evolving.

Don't worry, I'm here to tell you which items should be at the top of your toss list, and which items should be on your *fab* new replacements list.

Take it out: Mario Badescu facial spray

A product that was once all the rage because of its fab fragrance and aesthetically pleasing VSCO appeal has now been discovered to contain ingredients that are harmful to the skin. As a result, Mario Badescu's facial spray can cause severe irritation and breakouts on the face that can be very painful.

A spray of Evian's mineral water will leave you feeling refreshed in the morning and, will set your makeup in place for evening plans with the squad. Sephora, $14

Take it out: Neutrogena makeup wipes

Neutrogena makeup wipes def get the job done when it comes to taking makeup off. However, all that harsh rubbing to get every last bit of mascara off your eyes does nothing but damage the skin and strip it of its natural oils.

Get it instead: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is the perfect solution to taking off your makeup without all the harsh rubbing from makeup wipes, leaving your skin feeling hydrated, healthy and happy! Ulta, $9

Take it out: Kylie Jenner lip kits

Kylie Jenner is known for overlining her lips and filling them in with lipstick to make them look extra plump. When the lip kits first came out everybody was *obsessed* because they were the tools to getting Kylie's plump 'n' poppin lips. However, Kylie lip kits are way pricier than any of the top trending lip products right now, showing that they aren't worth their steep price tag.

Get it instead: Morphe 2 Happy Glaze Lipgloss

The Morphe 2 Happy Glaze Lipgloss is not only priced well for the quality of the product, but it gives you the iconic glossy lewk that Morphe and many other influencers are showing as the latest trend all over social media. Morphe, $9

Take it out: Original Beauty Blender

The point of the beauty blender is to give your face a smooth, clean and blended look. Over time it has been proven that the original beauty blender brand does not get the job done, leaving the face looking very cake-y with foundation lines all over.

Take it out: Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palettes

Urban Decay has given us trustworthy and fabulous eyeshadow palettes for years. Although you can't go wrong with using shadows from them, Urban Decay's color stories haven't changed at all over the years. This had made their customers resort to other brands for better and more up-to-date colors.

The pigment is thick and lasts all day and night. If you're looking for creativity and versatility, this palette will *def* not disappoint. Juvia's Place, $30

Take it out: Tarte makeup brushes

Tarte has dropped some fab products over the years. However, their brushes are not sustainable. If you're looking to still have your brushes for a few years without a problem, Tarte face brushes are not what you should be purchasing.

Not only are you getting sustainable, durable face brushes. With this set, you're also getting a heavy duty case and eye brushes! Morphe, $25

Take it out: Sephora brand lip gloss

Sephora is an OG, and they have been coming out with lip glosses in baby pink and lots of other *girly* shades we know and love forever. However, their lip glosses go bad so *quickly*! When buying a lip gloss it has to be able to stick around in your makeup bag for a while without expiring within the first few months of use.

She is helping to transform the beauty world with her impeccable list of healthy ingredients making the lipstick long-lasting in your makeup bag.  Sephora, $20

Take it out: bareMinerals foundation

bareMinerals powder foundation was a hot commodity at first until all these other brands came out with liquid foundations and foundations with SPF while bare minerals kept coming out with the same old power foundation. They never adapted to anything new.

Take it out: MAC Cosmetics lipstick

Makeup and especially lip products have stepped up their game immensely. So much so, that the classic Mac lipstick is not a 'go-to' product anymore. There are products out there with healthier ingredient lists and better product formulas.

It's such a versatile product and can be dressed up or dressed down. It's the final touch that you need to pull your whole look together, whether its sweats or chic!  YSLbeauty, $38

Take it out: Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is a classic mascara. It's probably still in many of our makeup bags because its the mascara many moms give to their daughters for their first ever mascara. However, being that it's an older mascara it doesn't have the latest updates that the newer mascaras have with the curvy wands or longer bristles, giving your lashes the best *lewk* they can possibly have.
